How do children learn to become persistent, confident, resilient, organised, and able to get along well with others? At Edisford, we believe the answer is simple: by actively teaching these personal characteristics through our Endeavours curriculum.
Building on the foundations laid by our Flairs programme in Key Stage 1, Endeavours badges give children the opportunity to put these skills into practice in real, hands-on contexts.
To endeavour means to try hard to achieve something worthwhile — and that’s exactly what we aim to do. Working in small groups (smaller than class size), children from Years 3 and 4 or Years 5 and 6 are mixed together for each badge activity, allowing for peer learning and collaboration.
The range of activities is diverse and exciting. For the Adventure badge, you might find us cooking on campfires or practising the recovery position. In People Skills, our children read stories to Reception pupils or plant bulbs in our garden areas.
Our Enterprise badge sees children set up their own companies, manage a budget, and sell products at our Enterprise Fair. In Artisan, they might be building periscopes and testing them around school!
And in Musician, children play marimbas, sing in harmony and rounds, and learn to play the recorder — a joyful and tuneful celebration of reading music and playing in unison!
Whatever the badge, we ensure all Endeavours activities are practical, engaging, and completely free from worksheets and pencils. Our Endeavours curriculum is unique to Edisford, and we’re incredibly proud to offer such a rich and inspiring programme to our children!
