Edisford Primary School
Confidence. Persistence. Getting Along. Organisation. Resilience.
This half term, children have been experiencing and appreciating a wide range of musical pieces as they learn about different musical instruments. These range from the piano with pieces such as John Lennon's 'Imagine', to the cello with a flash mob performance of Gustav Holst's 'The Planets', to the harmonica in Billy Joel's 'Piano Man' and the bagpipes with a tremendous performance at the Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
The lovely Mrs Bentley returned to school to work with children in an African drumming session, where they also explored a variety of other instruments. Thank you so much, Mrs Bentley! It was lovely to see you!
A range of household objects was also used by the children to explore and investigate how the simplest item can produce music.
Children have been learning to play the percussion instrument - claves - tapping out different rhythms and learning to perform the song 'Sarasponda' for an audience.
Well done to our first 'Flair for Music' group!
